Kansas revokes license of psychotherapist Angela Bogue-Gillmore for taking loans from patient, not paying back

On April 27, 2012, the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board revoked the license of licensed clinical marriage and family therapist Angela Bogue-Gillmore for unprofessional conduct, dishonesty and misrepresentations, exerting undue influence over a former patient and engaging in a dual relationship with the former patient.

Bogue-Gillmore provided counseling services to “S.B.” and “J.B.” as well as their four children from September 2007 through March of 2008, during which time she shared her personal family and financial information with S.B. Shortly after terminating counseling with S.B., Bogue-Gillmore requested and received an unsecured loan of $6,000 from S.B. to allow S.B. to refinance her house.

In August 2008, Bogue-Gillmore obtained a second loan from S.B. for $1,000. The memo line on the check read “short term loan.”

Bogue-Gillmore and her husband repaid S.B. $1,250 prior to filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, in which they listed the money owed to S.B. as a loan.

Bogue-Gillmore has never repaid the balance to S.B. It was Bogue-Gillmore’s position at hearing that the money was not a loan but payment for services. However, this contradicts the fact that she declared the money as a loan on her bankruptcy and the fact that S.B.’s attorney provided proof of full payment for Bogue-Gillmore’s services.

Bogue-Gillmore made other misrepresentations in her defense. Bogue-Gillmore requested a review of the Board’s decision but on June 1, 2012, the Board declined the request.
