Wisconsin suspends social worker Mario Einsman for failure to report child abuse

Filed under: Uncategorized — Psych Crime Reporter @ 10:05 pm

On September 19, 2012, the Wisconsin Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Counseling and Social Work Examining Board suspended social worker Mario Einsman for one month. Einsman provided counseling to minor 29 times between May 2004 and November 2007. In October 2009, the patient was seen by another therapist for an initial session. The patient disclosed a history of abuse and sexual abuse during childhood. Both the patient and his mother told the therapist that Einsman had been told of the abuse but that neither knew if he’d reported it, as required by law. Einsman confirmed that the patient had told him of the abuse and that he telephoned a report to the county social services agency but that he was told “the occurrence was past the statute of limitation.” The duty to report sexual or physical abuse of a child is not dependent on a statute of limitations. Einsman was also ordered to pay the Board’s costs of the proceeding against him, $1,650.
